Brought back to Australia after a pilgrimage down the Rhone Valley in 2010. The nose is an amalgam of blackberry, leather, cured meats, wild herbs and spice. I have probably been fortunate enough to open this single bottle at close to its prime. The palate is a delightful expression of Syrah displaying persistent and well integrated savoury fruit flavours and underlying oak. The match with a prime fillet of steak was a good one. Certainly different to Australian Shiraz. Viva la difference!

Weekend at Zuli's; 2/16/2012-2/19/2012 (St. Catharines, Ontario): Bright red fruit profile on the nose, some obvious terroir but relegated to the back row in this young Cornas. Flavors of black cherry, light black pepper spice, and grilled meats lead into a medium bodied, fruit forward, elegant Syrah. Simple and tasty.

(Domaine Courbis Cornas Les Eygats) A delicate balance of tannin, acidity, and dark, concentrated fruit make this one of Courbis's most appealing bottlings. The 50%-new oak is evident, but not intrusive. Cornas: Revolution and Evolution
