  • Good balance of sweet and savory. Medium-dark red fruits with some leather and garrique. Good acidity and balance, and amazingly the 15% alcohol doesn't show even when you're hunting for it. A stand-out for the vintage on Day One with zero oxidation when finished four days later.

  • Nice garnet color. Sweet Kirsch friut. Satiny texture. Rich. Manages to stay just this side of jammy/cloying because of some decent acidity and grip. Some early secondary development with a little garrigue and hint of cigar.

I'm going back and tasting my 2007 CdPs to see if I like and want to keep any or will sell. A horrifically overrated vintage, IMO, as so many are hot, overblown, mollydooker-esque messes. I was worried about this one on pnp as it was a tad blowsy, but after a little air it was very nice. Held up well in corked bottle on counter over a couple days, too.

  • Lost in my cellar for years. A bottle opened last night showed well, but as others have noted it's not particularly memorable.

  • a spicy crisp wine. no secondary.

  • Open for an hour before serving, this bottle had a nice mix of savory and fruit elements that run a classic CdP gamut. Some leather, garrigue, anise, and iodine complement the Kirsch and black raspberry notes. We had a wine newbie over for dinner and she really liked it (which to me suggest she was picking up on the ripe fruit). Good length as well as QPR, I think this is on plateau. Should hold for 3-5 years with all the usual caveats about storage and preferences for "old" wines.

(Domaine Chante Perdrix du Pape) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very pretty; strawberry w/ a little black pepper; little cranberry; very focused; like a classic English breakfast of strawberries and cream; black pepper and a little leather; PALATE-comes across very solid; there's an intensity and power coming through; very structured; a big, bold CdP; a little off-balance and awkward because of a little heat on the back-end; good ripe cranberry meets strawberry flavors; I like the tannins; a little spiciness (almost like a Strawberry Bloody Mary aftertaste); at $28, this is undeniably a very substantial CdP value play; JR-90/93; GV-91

(CHANTE PERDRIX CdP) 2007 Pape Dear Friends, I'm making my way around France at the moment and have come up with this wine at an alluring price. For some reason, the 2007 Chante Perdrix has become somewhat difficult to source so I'll take what I can get. This is another 2007 that has the captivating, weightless satin that I've referred to in previous offers and (in my opinion) it's probably the finest Chante Perdrix since the 1989 - which is not surprising. This wine is on the water now and will arrive in the late spring: This parcel is directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance: 2007 Domain Chante Perdrix Chateauneuf-du-Pape We will do our best to ship it during the spring shipping season (if it arrives by mid-May, which it should, and if the weather cooperates). Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone7644
