  • cork soaked through completely. Decanted off sediment about 25 minutes before dinner. Fairly advanced but not dead. Loads of tobacco and earth, some nice sour cherry holding on to the finish. On the far side of peak, but still great, still amazing considering its a 35 year old appellation wine.

  • A library release wine, in perfect shape. Fill level was into the neck and the cork was in very good condition. The color is still a healthy red with just a hint of garnet on the rim. Light-bodied and elegant with the structure completely resolved. Bottled-aged "sweet" red fruits, spice, leather, earth and dried leaves. Not much intensity, but this is more of a wine that whispers. Very drinkable and silky. Filled in a bit with some air. Loved it for its balance and elegance. A crazy good showing from a lesser vintage. Provenance matters!
