  • Fantastic. In a great spot right now but plenty of life to go

  • Having visited Wachau twice, it's a mystery to me that there is not even a single review of this wine given it's quality. I just assume it was not imported into the USA. In any case - wonderful wine, though admittedly this is a style I highly favor. Color is a medium golden sunshine yellow, not the semi-dark as I was half expecting. The nose is super: lots of petrol, supplemented with complex notes of grilled pineapple, candle wax, rose petals. Acidity is medium and holds the wine together nicely leading to a high viscosity finish where secondary elements display an intensity of ripe peach, white flowers, stone fruit and even a hint of saline. I guess it's moot to speculate if this will age (since it appears no one owns this!) but I'd say it's peak drinking now, with perhaps five years or so left for sure, perhaps even ten. I found this in a reputable NYC wine shop - if you love this genre (like I do), go ahead and buy it sight unseen.
