This bottle seemed to me more distinctly chardonnay than previous Montbourgeau blends. Very nice and vinous, mature and just slightly oxidative. Enjoyed with seared sous vide chicken breast.

Light greenish gold. Pleasant Manzanilla apple nose. The palate is savory, a bit salty, and tastes of mature chardonnay, powerful and clean with loads of acids but no sharpness. The finish is very long and barely puckering, lovely all around.

All of the essential qualities of the 2000, but with a more friendly, vibrant disposition. It was fresh enough to almost match some sharp parmesan in a salad.

the fruit in this wine is striking - it's ripe and round and very forward. yes, it's oxidized jura wine, but it is the flat out fruitiest one i think i've ever had. someone told me this is all chardonnay in 2001.

(Domaine de Montbourgeau L'Etoile Cuvée Spéciale) Aldehyde, oxidized, sherry and browning apple nose; tart brown apple, light sherry palate with surprising freshness and good acidity; medium finish 90+ pts.
