Takes quite a while to open up. Quite reduced at first; doesn't blow off quickly. Pretty good underlying material once it finally happens, though. Decent balance. Try again in two years or so.

No formal notes taken. Opened at cool room temp, pop-n-pour. Raw wood aromas continue in the mouth with a bit astringent tannins. With additional air, they seemed to soften and yielded a decent pinot.

Scott Paul for early 2000 Burgs, Eyrie, and Vista Hills: Really strange nose; bright, but with some heavy sulphates going on. Much more open and appealing on the palate. Good fruit, and not much tannins. Bright, delicious finish. Really full and large red fruit throughout the finish, which lingered for some time. Not much in the way of complexity, but really voluptuous finish. 90+
