(Ceàgo Sauvignon Blanc Kathleen’s Vineyard, Clear Lake) This vineyard estate, owned and grown by Jim Fetzer, is certified Biodynamic—complete with manure preparations and powdered-quartz-stuffed cow horns. Of course, the photosynthesis-enhancing sprays derived from the latter are needed only occasionally, since there is more than enough natural sunlight in the Clear Lake American Viticultural Area. Regardless, this wine is deliciously pure drinking. The nose exudes white peach, exotic pineapple, grapefruit, and white-pepper spices; a silkysmooth entry leads to a lemony-dry, crisp, medium body, with citrus and minerals mingling in a snappy finish.
