  • Popped and poured
Red fruit (cherry), cherry candy, strong floral- rose, spice, good acidity. Bright. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable.

  • There’s still plenty of life ahead for the ‘95 Giachini. The bouquet showed a mix of sour cherries, dried roses, dusty sweet clove and cinnamon, contrasted by dark minerality, with hints of animal musk, in a remarkably fresh expression for its age. On the palate, I found soft textures with a tart twang of citrus-infused acids, as sour cherry, savory herbs, hints of roasted shiitake, and earthy minerals soaked the senses. The finish was long, still showing a hint of tannin, with tactile acids making the mouth water as inner earth tones, minerals, dried red fruits and a hint of licorice faded. This may be completely mature, but it’s also in a beautiful place, with no fear of fading. It’s easily one of the best ‘95s that I’ve had in a long time.

  • Perfect cork, little sediment, decanted and let stand for 3 hours.
Upon opening had glorious nose of cherries and black roses.
It's palate was gentle power of nobility. Great acid and cherries with a touch of spices and excellent tannins. Its finish lasted for 68 seconds.
Gorgeous translucent ruby crystal with a glowing orange hue.
After 3 hours it closed down!
    Nose was gone.
It fell a touch tannic and lost its nobility.
I had brought this to a party for a blind tasting and we never got to see if it would have opened back up, which I'm pretty sure it would have, but we'll never know.

  • Excellent result despite vintage quality.

30 days upright rest at Vina Enotecca in Palo Alto: Rocco is the best!
Would buy this again and drink again.
It assuredly needs decanting with minimum of 3 hours. This was better than the Arborina '95.

Gorgeous nose of flowers, beautiful rose color with brick.
Palate was perfect with acidity, complex changing of herbs, flowers, asphalt, ground stone minerals.
How I love this grape, this terroir!
    9.3/10

  • Solid barolo. Classic and everything is in the right place, but as with many from this vintage not a particularly engaging wine beyond its tipicity.
