The nose upon opening was one of loam, mushroom and stewed prunes. Two hours after decanting, the first sip was Seavey Magic! All Spice, Cedar started off the parade of flavors. Bright cherry followed the initial taste and then came some beautiful cigar box and saddle leather with a nice mineral finish. The tannins were smooth and well integrated with all of the flavors. As the evening progressed, some blue and dark fruit and violet notes accompanied the cedar and all spice. The cherry faded away and the the cigar box and saddle leather were accompanied by nice loam notes and that beautiful minerality cleansed the palate at the end long taste profile. I was tempted to bump up the score by one point, but the textural, velvet-like tannin feelings never really surfaced.
This wine is in a great drinking window and can hold up at least another decade of cellaring.

Just a great bottle of wine. Can go toe to toe with any wine at its price point. Perfect for those who don’t want the over the top fruit forward Napa cab but also want a wine more approachable and appealing to a larger audience than a classified Left Bank Bordeaux. Super well balanced and agree that this wine could last for many more years if stored properly.

Decanted one hour. Wow. Excellent nose of blackberries, black cherry, smoke and earth. The palate is so well integrated and balanced nicely between ripe fruit and a more classic style in terms of balance. Long, satisfying finish. This is already in a great place but feels immortal and can probably last at least 15-20 more years.
