  • Lovely Pommard. No sign of advanced age. Nice aromatics, spot on Pommard back in crunch. Just what I was hoping for with this 18 year old 1er Cru Pommard.

  • Will probably last for at least a decade, but not sure if I will like it any more for that reason. Elegant, poised and mouthwatering lovely right now! Dark core, open nose with dark fruits, kirsch, anise paired with a mild but firm and long finish. 1 hr decant and it's open for business.

  • Trip to Burgundy; 6/7/2009-6/10/2009 (The Cote d'Or): Another nice wine. 30% new oak, whole bunch fermentation. Nose showed a toasty pain grille note from the oak, along with dried herbs, earth, wood spice and dusky fruit. Palate was round and fleshy, with a nice sweetness in its clean and very dark cherry tones. There were bits of toast and dried herbs floating around as well. This was certainly a Pommard on the structure, which was firm at the mid-palate in spite of the roundness of the wine in the attack, only giving way slightly at the finish which, though a little short, had a nice round gentleness as it seeped away. This was nice.
