From the ATP selection, this blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Valley was perfectly aged in someone else's cellar before I took ownership of it! This was Ridge's first release of the varietal - and experiment which obviously did not prove too successful given they no longer make this wine. Lovely purple in the glass I found a rustic, but round nose which showed grilled bell pepper, white pepper and earth. The palate is medium bodied and fine. It still shows a little ripe cherry character, but ends with spice and cracked black pepper. Lovely long finish. This sangiovese has aged well. 35 barrels produced.
Delicious, then declining. Superb tobacco infused red fruits - underline "tobacco." Delineated and focused, then falling off the cliff after a couple hours. Good, but this is not a varietal to keep of Paul's.
