Decanted 1 hour before pairing with spicy lasagna. Initially moderately brick red with tawny, clearing edges, and a reticent tired nose. By the time this was served, however, the color had improved a little and the nose was certainly improved. Rose petal, licorice, leather and tar were distinct on the nose, and the palate was generously medium-bodied, with mature dark cherry, licorice, leather, and still-present mild dusty tannins on the finish. Judging by the color, I would not have guessed there would have been any tannins left. This turned out to be an excellent pairing with the lasagna. If I had any more, however, I would drink up post haste.

Brown from age. Nice and dry, but the tannins are not razor-sharp around the edges because age has smoothed them a lot. We drank this with Thanksgiving dinner. It was liked but no one was overwhelmed with pleasure. Very good (85.5).

RUSSK Very Drinkable. Pleasant nose. Light color and body, finishing with some tannic firmness. You might mistake this for a Barbera blend. We fiinished the bottle in no time. Would buy more if 1/2 the price.

Either this was the worst Barolo I've had, or it was a flawed vegetal mess. I go with flawed.

Very light body. Earthy, gamey aroma with short finish.
