Nose: Cherries, Blackberry, Leather and Earth/Floral notes. Complex nose that exudes an old world feel. Palate: Striking blackberry and leather with good mix of spice and some floral notes. Suave and resolved at this point. Finish: Great length and sweet tannin. The lingering blackberry and spice showed the tokalon vineyard source off quite well.
This was the clear standout in a table of good Napa cabs on this night. Has come around very well for a notoriously stubborn napa vintage.
Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for two hours. Nose of blackberry, black cherry, currant, cocoa, coffee, licorice and spice. Black and red fruit core on the palate that combines with chocolate, spice and smooth tannins. Leads to a long finish. Full bodied. A very pretty Napa cab that exhibits hints of Bordeaux. Drinking well. Paired with filet mignon and a port and mushroom sauce.
