Lovely aged California wine, as good as most Martha's I've had. Bordeaux like, but really shows the allure of the subtle California style of old. It was a little underappreciated coming late in the night after so many good wines, but it is excellent.
Blind Tasting in Evanston (Tina's condo): '68 Heitz reg cab, '68 Antonio Vallana Spanna, '2005 Cliff Lede cab (Wine Library blind tasting winner), 2004 Beringer cab (Wine Library blind tasting loser). Notes: "Old wine. Little fruit on the palate. Bouquet amazing and I shouted 'This has to be Heitz!' However, I backed off and guessed it was the Spanna, as did everyone else!
(12.5% vol) I regret that I don't have any formal notes. Too dark to asses the colour, but wonderful nose of cedar and, after a while, eucalyptus (also on the palate) . Honestly, I was more enamored with this wine than the 2002 Sine Qua Non "Just for the love of it", which followed.
