I didn't like this as much as last time. It seemed a little over the top, where I remember it being a fruit bomb, but cleaner and brighter. It's a moot point, as we are now in the '08 vintage, which I will have to retry.

Beautiful saturated ruby, with aromas of dark cherry, black raspberry, spice, and dried herbs. In the mouth, very dry, tannin dominates, and the fruit is all dark and brooding, with dark raspberry, blackcurrant and some nice herbal/herb/medicinal notes. Finishes very dry. This is still tight and tannic and needs a couple of years to unwind, or a substantial decant.

I don't think I should rate this wine, but I must say that this is a fantastic value. I think that the oakiness hides a bit of the Monastrell/Syrah spicyness, and the more vegetal flavors of the Cabernet, but overall the balance of sweet fruit and silky tannins at the 10 dollar price point screams value: this isn't really my style of wine, but I would highly recommend those who like more fruit forward wines, especially those who are wasting their money on bottom drawer Napa Cabs, to find this wine.

No detailed notes here, but this was slightly disappointing even as a daily drinker. Good, but there are better options.
