  • Very nice but starting to show its age. Some fruit left but alcohol beginning to poke through. Wonderful nose of earth and crushed herbs, palate was a bit thin and finish a bit tight.

  • Dark red color. Did not decant, but significant crust on side of bottle and some medium sediment at the end of the bottle. This wine was all about the aromatics. Lilacs, black and green olive, mint, sage, leather, smoke, grilled meat, and blueberry notes all participated in what was a very inviting nose. On the palate, there was initially more green notes of green olive and tobacco than I was looking for. With air, the palate presence seemed to better assemble and this became more fruity with blueberry, blackberry, pomegranate, licorice and a bit of graphite being the most dominant elements. The finish was medium long. This one is heading into old age gracefully and may have best years past it for those who prefer more secondary flavor than tertiary. For those that like aged Syrah, this may reward further cellaring, but good drinking now. Drink or hold.

  • Still lots of fruit, full body. Tasted particularly lovely with a rather rich duck pasta dish - what a great meal!
