  • This wine raises the question of extraction in pinot. Decanted off of some sediment. Nice nose of dried herbs, cranberry, and licorice. Rather full-bodied and dark-flavored on the palate, with richness balanced by good acids amid currant notes. Finishes very well, with just a few dusty tannins left. This wine is in good shape, could hold longer, but near its peak. It's a fine bottle, but not very much to my taste. It's not racy & elegant, but rather ponderous. Others may like this wine a lot for its richness but I hesitate.

  • Very deep garnet, aromas of dark cherry, cola, tea and just a tiny bit of earth. Standard PN flavor of dark cherry and spice but definitely on the heavy side for the varietal, which is no surprise based on the alcohol %. Medium tannin, could use some more acidity to balance out. Not a bad wine, but became almost taxing to drink.

  • Their must be bottle variation or storage issues with some other folks' bottles of this wine. Opened 3 btls from my cellar last night for a party and this was beautiful. Not a hint of bitterness or oakiness in these bottles, just lovely pinot fruit, both on the nose and palate. Great balance with good acidity, rich - but not jammy or flabby - fruit, and nice spice. This is exactly what I want when I open a Cali pinot. This bottling has been consistently excellent a good bargain over the past few years. This will hold a couple years, as well, due to its excellent balance - my guess is that if you lost a bottle till 2018 you'd be surprised that it is still drinking beautifully (assuming good storage).

  • Did a Pop 'n pour after a 2008 Kosta Browne Koplen bottle and this was not a fair fight. Some burnt oak and bitter flavors. My wife and I debate what to open first on a given night when having dinner with friends and family. I like to open with a lesser wine, then go for the big gun as the main event. She prefers the good stuff first when her palate is fresh as we did last night. Both approaches have their merits but I tend to NOT over drink when the second bottle is not as good so the next morning that is a good thing!

  • Your basic Pinot. Hints of oak made it nice, but otherwise very light with zero layering and finish
