Initial thoughts were that the wine was a little over-oaked and still tannic. But after an hour, the tannins and oak faded into the background. The wine is velvety and smooth. It has subtle notes of fruit especially raspberry and a luxurious jammy mouth feel. The wine finishes too quick. The mid palette is so nice, it should stick around.
The raspberry jam carries over on the nose. Perhaps a hint of vanilla as well.
Well worth the price.

taste: nice medium feel with good depth and a strong backbone of tannins at this time. A bit unforgiving on the tannins right now
overall: obviously extremely young. Should emerge better with a slight bit of age and improve. There is good depth on the flavor and nose, so the skeleton is there, but not fully formed yet

Solid wine, obviously a syrah, gentle mouthfeel but lacks complexity

3rd Annual Expedition Wines American Homegrown tasting (Webster's Wine Bar, Chicago IL): nose: expressive and plush nose of dark red cherries, black fruits, smoke tones, pepper notes, and bits of dark berry tones
taste: smooth and polished full feel with good tannins and tones of dark red cherries, black fruits, pepper and some berry tones
overall: this is a really good syrah. Well balanced with a good fruit core and plushness
