Powerful, smooth, voluptuous ... "open for business" ... this was simply a great wine from start to finish, with a nose of cherry liqueur and pit fruit and a velvety mouthfeel showcasing flavors of blueberry and boysenberry with mineral accents. Well balanced and still vibrant despite a bit of bottle age.
This zin is simply delicious. on the nose graphite, cherry, and dark fruits. on the palate loads of zinberry, licorice, cassis and white pepper. this wine is approaching peak. Drink now or hold for a few more years. long finish with a touch of alcohol..
Opened at a party, so I only got a few sips. Unbelievable nose - briary fruit with a ton of floral notes. Otherwise, it was typical Carlisle - solid! Medium to full body, a hint of pepper, and a terrific finish. Will probably last a few more years, although I'll never know (since this was the one bottle Carlisle would sell me).
Outrageous, actually. I kept watching Mike's drinking window, and it didn't shift from "2015," yet it has continued to taste young to me. I kept opening bottles, and they were too oaky, hot and densely unknit. So I gave this one lots of air, and by the end of the third night this was really something special - huge, yet suave, precise and nuanced, with delicious vanilla-laden grapiness. Coarse, rough and wild at first, this is just starting to become civilized. I'd call the drinking window on this "2015 to 2020," but I can see why it's listed as earlier, as the fruit and brawny, savage quality of this is not to be missed. A wonderfully wild beast, and young still. If opening now, give this some air! Wonderfully fun wine, thanks, Mike.
