Bought this wine in 2009 - this is the first bottle from that purchase. Decanted for about 40 minutes. Lots of dark fruit and a long finish for a pinot. The color was almost opaque, nothing like some of my Oregon or Washington pinots. Will drink the remaining bottles over the next few months - I've waited long enough...
This is a very nice wine from a stellar year. 2007 was excellent for Cali Pinot's. The nose was funky bleeding towards fruit and there was no mistaking this as a pinot from california. toasted marshmallows and lovely violets. This wine was very nice.
Pop-n-pour although no detailed notes taken. Interesting wine, showing quite dark for a pinot. Initially heavy on the palate and disjointed, showing cranberry and cherry on entry, followed by some earthy/stemminess, then bitter greens on the finish. With about an hour's air, the flavors all start to meld into something more complex than the sum of its parts. Quite nice by then, but the heaviness kept it from becoming ethereal.
Nose: Raspberry, Strawberry, Cola, Cherry, Chinese Five Spice and burned wood. Very big nose on this. Palate: Very dense, but silky on the palate. Black Cherry, Raspberry and racy wildberry notes. Nice layers of spice and dark red fruit that is delivered with great precision. Finish: Lingering finish of Black Cherry tart, baking spices and rhubarb. Not a palate crusher, just a very nice modern pinot. Awesome drink.
