Opened and left on the counter to slow-o for 7 hours, not decanted before pouring. Cork was soaked through and soft.
Garnet red and fairly full-bodied for sangiovese. Cherries, dried Italian herbs, and a slight reductive note on nose and palate. The palate also had some astringent (not toasty) oak notes, tart mid-palate acids, and a little bit of heat.
If this was flawed, it was still good enough to drink, and most at the table commented that they enjoyed it. I generally did too, but I also suspected that this had gotten a bit cooked at some point. Having bought this direct before I had any place to store wine at constant temperature, it's certainly possible.
