Still drinking extremely well. A 2 hour decant is suggested as the wine needs time for the fruit to open up and the sediment to settle. This went extremely well with porketta this time around. I'm so glad I still have 5 bottles left.
Decanted for 2 hours and brought to a restaurant. This wine has serious balls. The particular bottle had been standing upright in my brother's dining room for 6 months during the 2nd warmest summer on record for Boston. Given what others say about heat damage and bottle shock I expected this bottle to be toast. It was sensational and showed NO effects of poor storage. Similar notes to my previous review - maybe a bit more leather and tobacco, which I love. This bottle gets 2 extra points for being tough as nails.
I didn't decant but did have the bottle open for 1 hour before drinking. Very tight nose upon opening. A few hours in this bottle really sang. I got a lot of black cherry and loads of dark chocolate. Fantastic wine for the price. Will decant for a minimum of 2 hours next time

(Barone Cornacchia Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Le Coste) #1; COLOR-great dark; NOSE-bright, ruby red; a little cocoa/coffee action; TASTE-I'm blown away by this wine; this is a MASSIVE red wine; it's so juicy; it's delicious, but it's still true; it's got the big fruit, but not a BOMB; just gorgeous red fruit; light tobacco on the back-end; rose petal for days; if someone told me this was a $75 cult Italian wine that got 94 points from Parker, I would believe it -- it's that delicious; great ripe black fruit; I love it; (AFTER 48 hrs open: more tannic, darker fruits, more rounded -- very nice); GV-93
