  • Subsequent notes on this wine from 8 years ago. Dark garnet in color with clearing & bricking at the edges. Full, forward, & fragrant nose of mature, ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & currants overtones of earthy/dusty notes & floral notes of violets, tar, forest floor, leather, mushrooms, minerals, tobacco, herbs & hints of cedar. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, mature, ripe fruit flavors of blackberries, cherries & blueberries with herbs, mushrooms, cocoa & oak. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but at 19 years of age, it is close to if not at its peak of development, so drink up soon. Fill was in lower neck; cork was clean & intact.

  • Prior bottle was a bit over 16 months ago and my notes were very consistent and this wine continues to show quite well. Mostly black cherry with a hint of red cherry along with earth, spices and leather on the nose. Medium bodied with silky and rounded black cherry upfront, adding depth through the middle along with darker black cherry and a hint of plum. Lightly tart black cherry behind along with balanced tannins and spice notes that balance the mid-body fruit well. Overall, this wine is fully resolved and shows very good fruit expression, good depth and very nice overall balance. Has the elements to remain enjoyable at least over the next 12+ months.

  • Stunning leather and cherry with a meaty finish. It may last but it isn’t getting better.

  • Prior bottle was two years and five months ago and while it doesn't quite reach the heights it once did, it has held up nicely and is currently drinking quite well and at full maturity. Nose shows black and red cherry, earth, spices and leather. Medium bodied with rounded black cherry upfront, adding some slightly deeper and prettier black cherry through the middle along with some red cherry highlights. Mid-body continues to show balance, elegance and depth. Blackberry and lightly tart black cherry on the back and fine grained tannins, light spices and mineral notes through the finish. Especially after this had been open for a few hours, it really came close to fully recapturing my prior impressions. You can tell it's a few years older (less acidity, tart qualities and spice notes, slightly less mid-body density), but at the end of the day, these were small changes. Overall, I was quite impressed with where this wine is today. Based on how this bottle showed, this wine will still provide a great experience for at least 2-3 more years. Glad I took the chance on this and will purchase more if the opportunity presents.

  • Slightly off-bottle as the person who brought it said the previous one was showing much better. Faulty cork I suppose, slightly oxidized and advanced with soy and balsamic notes.
