Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Bright medium-pale blood/ruby. Narrow tapering rim shows a little brick. The broad, earthy nose is lush and expansive, with sweet plum and cherry fruit. Dark and chocolatey, there are whiffs of oak spice and meatiness too. The mouth entry is round and succulent, generous and sexy, and yet also nicely cool. The mid-palate shows a little (unobtrusive) oak, with dense fruit and very good acidity. This leads through to a long finish - dark, fruity and ravishing - that itself finishes with a touch of acidity. This is an excellent 2000, and not at all sturdy. In fact, probably more Laurent than it is Nuits. ****
