Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.5 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 8 notes)

Tasted by Berry Cellar on 9/27/2008 & rated 70 points: Probably past it. Cork disintegrated and wine lacked flavour. Still drinkable but only just. (687 views)
Tasted by wmr on 9/16/2007 & rated 89 points: Some brick red colour forming, relatively clear very little sediment. God nose with some. Good length with mellow tannins. (1488 views)
Tasted by cwheeler on 4/9/2007 & rated 88 points: Wet moss and mint, tobacco and rich blackcurrant aromas. Tannins still play a prominent part on the palate but do not totally dominate proceedings. I would be interested to see this in 5 years time as I think it was good on the night, but may look better with time. (1653 views)
Tasted by wmr on 4/1/2006 & rated 90 points: Brick red in colourwith cigarbox nose, good length still a very nice wine. (2272 views)
Tasted by sthugo on 2/17/2006 & rated 94 points: First bottle of this vintage for quiet some time. Deep red in colour this wine straight away gave off aromas of berry fruit and chocolate, followed by some undertones of mint and leaf. The palate was a delight, lots of rich, sweet, creamy black fruit offset by some good handling of oak and a well-rounded attack of acid. Concludes with a medium length finish of soft, silky tannins. Unmistakably Cabernet, and very Coonawarra. This wine IMO is the complete package ... well balanced, medium-full bodied, smooth, elegant, well structured and has a great mouth feel to boot, and refreshingly only 13.5% alcohol. Has probably peaked but has many years ahead of it. The 1991 and 1994 vintages have been my favourite of this wine up until this point, but I may have to rethink that after this bottle. A very enjoyable drop of juice. Serve me this any day of the week! (2231 views)
Tasted by wmr on 11/15/2005 & rated 90 points: Brick red colour, bright and clear in colour. Good nose with a hint of chocolate and a bit of smoakiness with not to much oak. Very good on the palette, very smooth, no mouth puckering tannins here. Seems like it is getting close to passing its prime, but with some decantering it is still a very pleasant wine. (2463 views)
Tasted by wmr on 9/17/2005 & rated 89 points: Clear and bright deep red in colour. Nice nose, medium length not as good as I remember a little bland this time round. (2512 views)
Tasted by wmr on 2/5/2005 & rated 90 points: Wine Challenge 1/2005 (Darwin, NT, Australia): Firm, powerfully structured long-term Coonawarra cabernet with style and poise. There's a hint of bay leaf behind its minty, fragrant aromas of violets, cassis, vanilla and smoky chocolate oak, while its rather sumptuous and creamy palate is an equal marriage of intense small dark berry fruit and assertive, but integrated French oak.
