  In my cellar since release. Top shoulder fill level. Moist cork and fell apart upon retraction. Some large sediment along bottle and some fine dispersed sediment in the glass. Considerable brown hues. Tobacco, cedar and slight blackberry notes on nose. Black fruit flavors tobacco, soft, mellow with tannins reduced, but still some acidity. Long finish.

  HK Wine Society Annual Dinner 2023 and for me and many others it was the WOTN. This imperial bottle (5L) arrived with the cork propping out of the wax. I should have opened the box to check the contents. Luckily the wine was in pristine condition and not compromised. Aromas of black fruits, fig, cedar, toast vanilla and sweet spice. On the palate, it was a solid medium body fruit-laden wine mixed with jammy fruits, sweet spice, quite low acidity and very smooth tannins giving good structure. Overall a great finish crediting the 94 points. Bravo!

  Drink up! Cork in great shape. Decanted due to heavy sediment content. Tannins slowly wearing out. Strong smoky, and oaky on the nose, with the usual hints of pencil shavings and tobacco. Smooth on the palate, touch of wild berries and currants! Definitely opened up after about an hour though I am not sure if it has much left to offer. Lower score as the finish was shorter than I was expecting. Had the ‘83 a couple of weeks ago and that was exceptional despite being well past its peak.
