Double decanted at 10am and brought to lunch with a friend at a Turkish restaurant. This was a deep, dark garnet color with little to no bricking. The nose is very effusive with tobacco, milk chocolate, graphite, black currant, blackberry, scorched earth and lots of other nuances. Smooth and lively on the palate. Very rich, layered and complex. Plenty of new oak influence but well controlled. Moderately long finish. If this is representative, I would say this is nowhere near end of life. Good with lamb kebob.

This was a PNP drank after a 2006 Cardinale. This wine was "older" than the 06 Cardinale. Brickish rim with more secondary notes as would be expected. Plowed earth, cedar, dried blackberry. More mid pallet structure and angular, but more layered than the 06 Cardinale. Tannins were dusty yet well integrated with a finish that was very good. A winner as well and a good evening of drinking.

Judgement of Greenbay, 03 Mouton, 06 Monte Bello, 05 Brainaire Ducru, 03 Lascombs, 06 Quintessa. Monte Bello ranked first with Statistical significance over all except Quintessa which was second. 13 judges. All wines were drinking exceptionally well!

Retains dark color with some dark fruit on the nose and palate. Not at the level of upper tier Napa Cabs. Clearly past peak.

Past it’s prime but still drinking well-ish. Pepper on the end with ink and licorice
