Very nice, and better than a bottle I had a couple of years ago. Did not take notes, but it was mostly red cherry with a bit of a mineral element. Very smooth and velvety mouthfeel with good balance. A bit simple and straightforward, and without as much character or complexity as most Arcadian pinots, but still very enjoyable.
Took to the lunch for Neil and Sue where it showed beautifully in a delicate, leafy way. Maturing taupe hue, with raspberry and tomato fruit on the palate and a bit of thyme on the nose--classic central California and in prime drinking window. Sue liked it so much we sent a bottle back to New Zealand with her as a parting gift.
Weightless and transparent with nice concentration but lacking a bit of body for such a young wine. Completely pleasurable now but I don't see a ton of upside here. Compared to the 05s that are still very primary and stacked this is lacking. But by itself it is a nice drink with good balance and light intensity.
This is what domestic pinot should be. Lithe, transparent, tasting of white and red cherries with a whiff of roses. A bit of minerality completes the package. No, it's not grand cru burgundy, but it's very lovely to drink.
