Largo y evocador.

  • What a shame I already consumed 4 of the 6 I had. I has really come around and no need to wait any further. A real charmer right now.

  • I opened this bottle at the end of a long evening, because we started discussing the 2007 vintage, and I wanted to show how a good 2007 can be. Mortet still never disappoints, and gives me cold dark sweet minty fruit in abundance, paired with fine grained tannins showing me this wine still has years left in the cellar. A stellar performance from my favourite producer, as always. Concentration still pushes above the appellation, and this could very well be mistaken for a premier cru if tasted blind.

  • The wine looks garnet colored. It smells like strawberry, cranberry, raspberry, mushroom and toast.

  • Deepavali session at Kallang ES. Pop and poured. Drank over 2 hours.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs.
Nose is initially clean, meidum+ intensity, with aromas of earth, sweet spices, cola, dark red cherries, dark red plums, slight emerging mushroom. With more air, animal and barnyard aromas. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), integrated medium- tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red plums, dark red cherries, savoury earth, cool stones minerality ?alpine rocks, cola, slight meatiness. Long finish.
Very good quality. Would crush many other village Burgs. Great balance despite the concentration of dark fruit. Kinda has some New World feel to it. Drinking well now, and will do so over the next 4-5 years also.
