  • Nose is dense; slightly musty with dark fruit - not pure nebbiolo in style. Weighty in the mouth, with middling acids and clunky tannin. Little bits of leather and earth, no real cherry, spice or cedar. Tastes more new world varietal than Barolo. I don't know much of the producer, but not too impressive - Glad it was a weeknight sipper. OK, but probably not worth the $$.

  • Initially I don't like the musty, slightly off nose. First sip shows ripe fruit but too much tannin although its gentle texture suggests that with time it will fade. After more than an hour the aromatics clean up but the fruit isn't pure or authentic. In the mouth it feels ripe, the middle builds weight, it evens out and the tannin almost disappears. It's ready for drinking but the fruit is muddled and lacks precision. Definitely Nebbiolo, but not a great example.
