Wow. Exceptional zin. Very expressive nose. Pours dark. Nice soft fruit. Could tell ot would have been too much in its youth but nice and silky now. High alcohol but you would not know. Super smooth. Great finish. Still years ahead.

Purple color with some brown at the edge. Bouquet and flavor that was part prune and part raisin, with a bit of brambles. Good balance despite its very high alcohol. Not likely to get better.

I have difficulty rating this, as it's not my preferred style of wine. It gushes with ripe, ripe, sweet fruit - more than a bit over the top. But when one considers the labor of love that goes into this wine whose vines grow on a 60% slope, still ploughed by Lee Martinelli himself, one has to pause and taste again. I drank a half bottle solo with a rack of slow-smoked BBQ ribs. What a match! I've been buying my allocation iof this wine for 21 years, and I'll continue to never leave a bottle unbought.
