Festa da Polenta with 9-Year Noceto Sangiovese Vertical Tasting (Steve and Annette Jones'): Spectacular. At first I thought this was a big tired and old, but then when it had time to develop it brought the goods. The flavors were subtle cherry and light oak, with the tannins so soft and smoothed out. The color had some bricking but not much more than the younger wines, so I think this has some legs and may last a few more years if lucky. I imagine there may be some bottle variation at 18 yeras of age, but the fullness remaining in this one tells me it was not yet at it's life's end.

Still in there working. Nice sangio with age showing. I enjoyed this a lot. We had it with a 2005 side by side to compare. Both quite good, but the 14 years difference made them a workld apart. The cherries are fading to darker rusty dusty flavors with figs and raisins. Nice. Finished very well. Still purplish and not too brown orange yet.
