was expecting more - on initial pour there was a tart, acidic bite, which rounded out a bit over the next hour and two hours - wonderful nose, verging on elegant and left me optimistic about day 2 - but next day the tartness returned with a vengeance, to the point it was unpleasant. Didn't even finish the last glass. At this price point really hoping this is some sort of dumb phase and my remaining bottles get better with some time. Either that or I need to drink them quickly within the first hour or two. :)
Had this via a magnum with another couple. Decanted for an hour. This baby is ready to drink and is simply delicious! Great fruit, mouth feel and lingering finish. Tannins are supple but there is enough stuffing there to let this age another 10+ years.
Been wanting to try one of these for a while. Much denser and closed than the Jerico Ranch. Seemed to close down with more air. Nose of currants, anise, and sweet vanilla. Dark fruits on the palate, fine polished tannins. Lengthy fruit filled finish, milk chocolate, and cedar spice. Young, but seamlessly made from start to finish. Seemed a little more polished and even restrained compared to the Jerico Ranch (and this is not a small wine). Just a hint of heat on the backend of the palate. Hold. On day 2 this was much more accessible, with strong coffee, chocolate and almost explosive dark fruit that hangs on the palate for over a minute. Unfortunately the nose and finsh were marred by strong alcohol/heat--cooling to ~65 made a BIG difference. Will drop a point.
