Cherry, dark berry, vanilla, hint of menthol. Color is fading and probably the fruit. Finish is a bit acidic. Surprising tannin level for a PN. Probably helped it last this long, though. OK, not quite good...

Dark garnet color with black cherry, spice and oak aromas. On the palate, medium-bodied with good acidity, and soft, but noticeable tannins. Initially tight, but opened up with some air. Medium finish.

Aromas of figs, black cherries, quince, German chocolate cake, marzipan. On the palate, ripe black cherries and root vegetables dominate initially. Chocolate and figs come through on the mid palate and it finishes nicely with more subtle dark fruit flavors. Medium body, lively acidity and soft tannins.

PnP tasted side by side with the '09 Sea Slopes - the latter being the better wine, by far. This '06 will need some time in the bottle, but still, it's reductive nature will likely get the better of it through the years. If opening now, be sure to decant at least 2 hours. Drink thru 2015, score: B-/B, with possible (slight) upside noted. A solid mid-week quaffer that certainly works with food as all the FR wines do.

Quite soft and light. Nothing too awry, but not so expressive either.
