Community Tasting Notes (10) Avg Score: 91.3 points

  • Last bottle from a 6x purchased at £285/6 IB from secondary market. PnP. Lightly floral nose, fairly clean. Not much dark soils, not very NSG like on the nose initially. Bright acidity level of the vintage, slightly lean. Tannins partially resolved, still some hanging around on mid-palate. Finished with lingering dark soil and old barrel notes. Drinking now and should last for at least another 5 to 10 years, but not certain of any upside from here.

  • PnP. Decided to make this a Bruno Clavelier week since I have already tasted 3 vintages (‘93, ‘02, ‘03) of BC La Combe d’Orveaux this week. Clean nose, good mix of flowers, dark soils, stems, and oaks. Tannins mostly resolved, sweeter than previous bottles. A tiny bit of bitterness at backend, otherwise drinking beautifully. Lithe (for a NSG?, must be the vintage thingy) with good balance. Probably the best showing from the 6x. Ready with time in hands. First glass disappeared rather quickly! Sipping this with Springsteen 14 mins bootleg of “Backsteets” recording from “Live At The Roxy Theatre ‘78” on repeat, 1/2 bottle gone in no time. What a great live performance by the Boss and what a heart breaking song. One of the most underrated song by Springsteen.

  • PnP. Similar to previous notes. Expressive floral nose with a hint of wood still hanging around. Mouth watering acidity, fairly typical of the vintage. Tannins mostly resolved, ready for consumption now. Dark soils lingering at backend. Should last for a while with its vibrant acidity but no point aging much further.

  • PnP. Similar to previous note, very NSG on nose and palate with mouth-watering acidity, almost excessive. Would need a fatty dish to go along with this, a food wine. With aeration, this improved a little bit 2 hours later, softer tannins and not as sharp acidity, deserved a slight upgrade in score.

91 pts
