Popped and poured. Medium ruby color. Nose of crushed blackberry, raspberry, higher pitched floral scents, brambles, and rock. Somewhat dilute on the palate for about an hour, then chimed in with layers of iron, iodine, black raspberry, meaty tones, and brier. Ample acidity and firm tannin leading to a medium length finish of tangy red fruit amidst linear tectonic plates of schist and iron. This wine showed quite young and would benefit from at least several more years in the cellar.

Mid week Burgs with Paul at Trade Kitchen (Trade Kitchen, Wellington): Blackberries and other black, and some blue, fruit aromas, with high toned flinty minerals. On palate, leaner, dilute, not surprising for this Climat, for a 2007. Quite intense, with racy acidity. Black cherries, dark chocolate and slatey minerals. Fine grained tannins. I like this lighter style of Burgundy but some may see it as too linear and skinny. No hurry needed but there for drinking now.

Well balanced, soft, pure, long, but somewhat lacks sparkle. A pleasant wine to drink, if a bit underwhelming.
Ready to drink.

An archetypal Gevrey. Reflecting the vintage, it lacks in ultmate power, but overcompensates in elegance and complexity.
Ready to drink.
