This won the flight by default, the only bottle without a flaw. If the older wines had been in better shape I suspect they'd show more complexity and depth. This was pretty, with delicate spice, a more elegant and soft style that probably won't get a lot better with age.

Quite a bit of consummate on the nose. The palate was less expressive compared to my previous encounter, yet still showing some spice and candied fruit.

50th Birthday Bash: Late night cellar diving... full disclosure, this bottle came after 16 bottles of wine across six guys and a six hour dinner. That said, it was great. I was surprised how approachable it was and that it already had some bricking at the rim. Always a treat to drink regardless for when it shows up in the evening.

Side by side CLB Eche 07 for a lovely pair over dinner to be savoured over 2 hours. The CLB had the edge on the nose initiallly while the DRC had the edge on the palate. Brooding on the nose and serene here for DRC, an appealing palate of cherry coated in black chocolate, rosewater, earth and tea. Should probably get better over the next decade if the wine loses a bit more puppy fat still. But no crime to pull a cork.

Opened at the Upper House in HK. Slow-oxed for 1.5 hours before serving for dinner.
Wonderful DRC GE. Aromatics absolutely on-point: whole cluster DRC nose, Vosne spice, red fruit-driven with notes of lychee and tea leaves coming through. Oak was present, but well managed and came across with vanilla highlights. Tannins were there but seamlessly integrated, alongside good structure and acidity with a finish that went on and on.
This doesn't quite reach the height of some other terroirs or vintages, but was showing really well and was WOTN on this occasion. Definitely some upside as well, I would revisit in 3+ years to see how this is doing, even though it definitely has the backbone to keep for much longer.
An extra special bottle as it was the first DRC for a few wine-converted friends. Great memory to share together!
