Very pretty nose: earth pepper, raspberry/blueberry fruit, developing a touch of menthol, liquorice. Mid-weight elegant palate with good depth, dusty tannins and supported by fresh acidity. Finishes fresh and persistent. This is delicious and notably complex.

Bordeaux and Smoked Long Bone Beef Rib Roast (Brandon and Kendall's, Mpls): Medium dark red color. PNP, small glass; this was another generously supplied late entry bonus bottle. Earth, red fruits, cherry and red currants, a bit of sauvage, tart with nice spice character, just a little wood and on a fairly elegant framework. Well put together, agree with Paul S on this. 91+ to 92pts.

Chris' Birthday Dinner (Summer Palace, Regent Hotel): From a magnum, this was really delicious. It had a nice nose, with a bit of meat, some forest floor, a touch of red fruit and some sweet florals - subtle, but really attractive and absolutely Burgundian. I loved the feel on the palate too - light, dancing, and transparent, with lithe notes of dark cherries and red berries alongside bits of mineral and spice. there was a lovely sense of 2007 purity and snappiness to it, but while really elegant and spare, there was no lack of depth and length to to either. Lovely. This was everything you would want from a 1er Cru.

Not real expressive at the moment. Cherries and oak nose. Medium finish with a nice acidic frame that should carry this well into the future. Could turn into something fantastic-who knows. For now its just closed and a little basic in profile.
