The fruit, dark of currant and blackberry, some dark cherry, along with the spice and licorice are balanced so well if you don't pause to really taste it the wine will feel a bit dull. Bright rustic nose of raspberry liqueur and provencal herbs with a real earthiness to it. Palate is medium bodied with concentrated red fruit and good acidity to carry it along. Some light, mouth-drying tannin on the finish. Refreshingly free of much oak. I could see this pairing with a wide variety of foods, especially pork or heavier chicken dishes, but it was a bit light to go with the top sirloin steak we had tonight. Enjoyable. (1081 views) | |
