Community Tasting Notes (average 87.7 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 177 notes)

Tasted by Rini Das on 9/1/2010 & rated 89 points: Nice quaffable wine. (85 views)
Tasted by treaganjr on 8/29/2010 & rated 88 points: (379 views)
Tasted by PIntag on 8/28/2010 & rated 85 points: I don't know, decent but quite simple and one-dimensional. On the new-world side with up front fruit. Decent value at $10. (562 views)
Tasted by StuckinPA on 8/28/2010 & rated 90 points: Beautifully balanced and really subtle rhone blend of Syrah and Grenache. The fruit, dark of currant and blackberry, some dark cherry, along with the spice and licorice are balanced so well if you don't pause to really taste it the wine will feel a bit dull. NIce medium body, very smooth with soft tannins and low acidity. Excellent food wine, pretty classic rhone. I thought it was pretty ready to drink. (526 views)
Tasted by Apollo_Creed on 8/22/2010 & rated 87 points: Continues to be my go-to under $10 bottle. (727 views)
Tasted by BrandenG on 8/22/2010: Tasted on 8/22/2010

See-through pinot noir like color; damp cellar, cherries, raspberry, pepper; palate of fresh cherries, licorice, and pepper; medium-long finish. (736 views)

Tasted by Sheepish on 8/14/2010 & rated 87 points: Served this with baby back ribs coated in a homemade (thanks Ken!) mango barbecue sauce. It was a nice pairing to hold up to the spicy flavor of the ribs. Have had this before without a meal. Excellent COSTCO find!

Tasted by coremill on 8/10/2010 & rated 88 points: Found this rummaging around in my dad's wine rack. My mom thinks someone brought it as a gift, and, hey, it was pretty good. Very dark red color. Bright rustic nose of raspberry liqueur and provencal herbs with a real earthiness to it. Palate is medium bodied with concentrated red fruit and good acidity to carry it along. Some light, mouth-drying tannin on the finish. Refreshingly free of much oak. I could see this pairing with a wide variety of foods, especially pork or heavier chicken dishes, but it was a bit light to go with the top sirloin steak we had tonight. Enjoyable. (1081 views)

Tasted by ekenneth on 7/28/2010 & rated 86 points: This was alright, a pretty good buy. With so much out there, I don't know if I'd buy it again, (1495 views)
Tasted by twofthrs on 7/24/2010 & rated 89 points: Decent Rhone. (1477 views)
 Tasted by WG198 on 7/22/2010 & rated 90 points: (1351 views)
Tasted by Tri Wine on 7/15/2010 & rated 86 points: Nice aroma (spice and plum?) and a decent overall feel (smooth) but it ends there. Not sure what's missing, but something is. Ok wine, but (yet again) I'm way off from the W.S. 90 pt rating here... (1680 views)
Tasted by DSimmons on 7/14/2010 & rated 87 points: Good for the price (1752 views)
Tasted by jowen on 7/14/2010 & rated 85 points: A bit of a disappointment - tasted like a generic CdR with a bit more tannin. The tannin was even more pronounced on day 2 as the fruit had subsided a bit. Like most Rhone wines, it's still a good drink...just nothing special. (1758 views)
Tasted by nikitian on 7/13/2010: Mir zu viel tannin (1730 views)
Tasted by Beachrooster on 7/7/2010 & rated 88 points: Dark garnet. Aromas were slightly closed and muted - roasted meat, cherry cola, minerals. Nice palate feel and weight. Medium length finish with some lingering sulphur notes. Good for the price. (1973 views)
Tasted by dalemosier on 7/7/2010 & rated 88 points: Would benefit from a little aging. WS90 (1958 views)
Tasted by wineguy58 on 7/3/2010 & rated 89 points: nice simple fruit balanced qpr (1987 views)
Tasted by dfarley on 7/1/2010 & rated 89 points: One of my favorite $10 bottles. Decent fruit and well balanced. Drinks equally well alone or with food. (2083 views)
Tasted by z_willus_d on 6/26/2010 & rated 85 points: Drank over the span of four days and it never quite got there relative to the "there" of my previous tasting. Do CDRs of this caliber "shut-down" only to emerge improved years later, or is this shut-down only to shut-down even lower? I fear the latter supposition the more likely in the case of this CDR. It is a blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Grenache from two specific vineyard plots that are among the best in the Rhône Valley. The 2007 Côtes du Rhône-Villages from Perrin & Fils is an absolute pleasure to imbibe. Like a great dinner guest, this juicy but perfectly balanced red will integrate seamlessly with many mediterranean inspired dishes and end up making quite an impression at your next meal. Chorizo and a hunk of Manchego? Chanterelle pizza? Rosemary skewered lamb kebabs? This 2007 should definitely be one of your go to wines. Open a bottle and watch it disappear. (Mulan Chan-Randel, K&L Wine Merchants) From Perrin & Fils: Aromas of small berry fruit, such as blackcurrants and blackberries, with licorice and spices are part of a well-rounded and silky ensemble. This elegant wine goes perfectly with meat dishes, barbecues, poultry and other dishes in sauce.
