Guess I don't need to repeat the value remark. Still plenty of mourvedre pong although more contained to the nose on this occasion. Aromas are strong fruited and clean with zingy prunes. Palate is sturdy and firm, and even a touch bitter and hard. No overpowering or intense however. Almost perfumed finish. I thought the acid was a touch pokey this time around and seems to need time to soften.
This wine remains amazing value here in Australia at $13. Changed quite rapidly in the glass over the course of a few hours. Started out stinky, pooey and Northern Rhone like, but soon settled into a ripe and slightly sweet red berry driven drop. Obvious fruit notwithstanding a lick of sturdy and slighty pongy fruit never disappeared, whilst the chicken shit-esque nose hung around as well. Might cellar ok for a few years too.
