Came in with low expectations, not having read these notes beforehand. This was fantastic... but also so lively, with such brightness, that I almost questioned whether this was truly a 1969!

A really good showing. Classic tar and roses with some Indian spice, truffle and leather too. It is savoury and chewy in the mouth with vinous sweetness. There's balsamic tang to the finish and very decent length.

Barolo night at Table At 7. Tasted semi-blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is murky with lots of fine sediment, garnet colour. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of truffles, mushrooms, earth, plummy red fruits, dried red cherry, leather. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, completely resolved melting tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of truffles, savoury mushrooms, dirt earth, aged leather, licorice, red tea leaves, red plums, lingonberry, dried red cherry. Medium+ finish. Very good quality. Excellent provenance. If completely blind I would have thought 1980s Barolo. One of the best and most alive 1960s Barolo I have had so far. Paired well with the truffle risotto dish. Drink up and enjoy.

Gala Dinner at La Festa del Barolo 2020 (The Pool Restaurant, NYC): Gorgeous nose of red fruit. Surprisingly sweet in the nose and mouth. Delicate, but all there. Really impressive for the vintage.
