Sunday Dinner on the Beach (Yin Yang Coastal, Ting Kau Village, Tsuen Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong): Light yellow gold colour - no sign of age. Nose of matured oak, lemon and clam shells with seaweed-covered rocks on the shore. Palate is is rich, opulent, oaky, rounded and harmonious, with lots of roasted lemons and enough acidity to keep it very fresh. Powerful and muscular but very lean-muscled. Big reverberance on the end. Always a delight and a crowd-pleaser. Totally blew out a Gaja Gaia & Rey Chardonnay 2009 that costs over 4 times the price.
Life has been kind to this wine since I last drank it and really enjoyed it 3 years ago. Lovely fresh and vibrant straw gold colour. Nose is deep, sweet slightly sweaty straw and lots of variations on sun-dried lemons. Palate is quite tannic but nicely structured to showcase the burnt lemon skin, taut oyster shell and lightly caramel mid-palate. Back end is super roasted charcoal grill lemon skins and a ton of lemon juicy fresh acidity.
Medium gold color. PNP, drank 1+ glasses over an hour. This was pretty similar to the bottle I had a year ago. Nose shows lemon, citrus, oak, and some minerality. The palate still has some good acidity to go with the lemon and pear flavors, moderate oak, and a nice finish. This pulls everything together pretty well. Last bottle and I think a good time to finish. 90+ to 91pts.

The Garagiste Warehouse ************************* Ridge
Paul Draper believes 2007 is among the 2-3 finest vintages of his career - enough said.
Today, we present a selection of the new releases from Ridge and they are very promising indeed. This California stalwart needs little introduction and, while two California offers in one week is a bit much for us, Ridge is an exception.
The 2007 vintage in Northern California has already caused a 2005 Bordeaux/Burgundy-like frenzy among Napa/Sonoma enthusiasts and we're just at the beginning. All of the entrants below command considerable attention and you can pretty much throw darts to find top-tier quality. If you are looking for a powerful California Chardonnay that actually tastes of its place and varietal, the 2007 Estate is quite underpriced versus comparable bottles from the Golden State - it will surprise a great number of you with its regal style. Ditto for the Geyserville.
All are set to arrive in a few days and will be available for local pick up after the holiday weekend:
2007 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay Estate
2007 Ridge Geyserville (Sonoma) 2007 was such a good vintage in Sonoma that this is destined to unwind (after its bottle shock) into a very long-lived version of this California classic. There are old-time (i.e., pre-cult wine) vintners that feel the 2007 vintage (in general) may be as good as 1968 in Sonoma - now that's high praise.
2007 Ridge East Bench Zinfandel (Dry Creek) Ditto for this wine - another Sonoma product that delivers a mouthful of fruit and substance for far less of an entrance fee than most. If you are a fan of the big and brambly (while still reigned in), this is for you.
...we also have a small parcel of this wine:
2005 Ridge Lytton West Syrah (Someone told me this wine received 95pts from somewhere but I can't find it - maybe one of you can let everyone know on the Forum board? What I do know is that this belies a California style, instead looking to Ampuis for its inspiration.)
