This is lovely syrah. Not too heavy or clunky. Lovely floral notes and cherry along with a lot of bright acid, deep coffee. Smooth and suave and full of class. A little hot on the long finish. Hawke's Bay syrah is one to watch and this wine is among the forefront. B/B+

2011 Sydney International Wine Show - Top 100 tasting (Menzies Hotel, Sydney): {cork?, 13.5%} Nose of pepper, spice and smoke. Spicy on the palate too; very cool-climate in its general aspect. There are fine dusty tannins but then things are trickier; it seems to sit only on the front palate, and the finish is rather short. Light-medium body, but also feels rather thin; the warmth of the texture isn’t matched by the generosity of the flavours. Not a cocktail wine, that’s for sure; wants food to show its best.
