Ap: clear pale ruby red Ar: day 1: mute with some raspberry notes. Day 2: intense nose with ripe dark fruits with some salty and meaty notes, which reminds me of mature barolos. Medium bodied with lean and defined apperance. Clean with good intensity. Very good length
50+5+12+17+8
Good mature burgund with some years left.

This was a bit shy in my opinion...didn't really want to show much. A nice bit of fruit hiding in there, maybe shut down? I think this his a bunch of upside from where it is today.

Drinks at Chez Simo (Chez Simo Bistro - Chicago, IL): A lot of 2007s of late have been in a good drinking spot, but I think this needs more time to open up. You could tell that there's really nice material here and that with 2-3 years it'll become quite nice. Right now, there's some nice berry and floral notes but not a ton more. 90 pts on potential.

Dinner at Chez Simo (Chicago, IL): A bit herbal and stemmy on the nose, but not off-putting in any way. The palate has a lot of sweeter fruit character, but the tannins come off a bit harsh and rustic (eh, young Nuits, what do you expect?). Very fruit-driven and juicy, and totally open for business now (apart from those pesky tannins that may or may not come around).

Nuits St. Georges Flight-2006 to 2011 (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Healthy ruby, lighter edge. Some earth and high toned fruit. Light but it has sap and texture that give it a wonderful feel. Smoky red fruit and spice, good finish, more tannin than immediately apparent at first blush. Well done with particularly pleasing texture for an '07.
