Arnaud Ente Volnay Santenots Vertical (2006/2007/2008)
Similar bouquet compared to the 06 but kinda disjointed on the palace. Orange peel, burnt cherries, earth and tar. Felt like this was a different wine altogether - showing a much darker profile than the 06.

Of all the producers in Meursault (including Coche Dury), the best Pinot Noir I have tasted is this 2007 Arnaud Ente Volnay 1er Cru. Tasted blind – Fragrant saturated red cherry, elegant, hints of meat and herbs. Traditional, soft extraction, late malo? Lovely sweetness and green stems with a slight austereness on the mid-palate. Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru? 2008? Dujac? (88/100)

The Ente '07 Santenots is still a youthful bottle of Volnay on the palate, though the nose is developing nicely, with a quite black-fruited bouquet featuring notes of sous bois, truffle, espresso and a framing of cedary new oak. On the palate the wine is still firm at the core, with nice balance and depth, and really expatiates with a bit of air.

Pop and pour. One of the better 2007s I've had the pleasure to taste. Light red purple color prompted my wife to ask how old this was. Sous bois and cherry on the nose. Delicate mouth feel and more cherry fruit on the palate. A welcomed kiss of acidity. Agreed success for the vintage. Drink now or maybe see what happens over 5 or 10 years.
