Clear, vibrant, light golden color. 'burgundy nose', but more montrachet than meursault. Light anis/fennel in the early palate, then moves towards a citrusy finish. Higher acidity than expected in a Meursault, reminds me more of a montrachet or even a chablis. Misses the buttery quality and velvety texture of meursault. A good bottle of wine but i would never had pegged this as Meursault.

Well, what do you know, a couple of years after learning the first bottle was oxidized, thus leaving little confidence in the remaining one of the brace, it turns out that it is really rather fine after all, exceeding expectation. Like a little premature Christmas gift. The color was a nice golden straw color (no brown), the aroma reeking of oak and minerality. On the palate is where it really shone: hints of greatness, rich combination of oak and mineral, some illusive texture, nuttiness, and then the bright citrus. Through half-closed eyes it could have come from somewhere more exotic.

Sometimes you win; sometimes you lose. Sad to say I lost on this one. Like AllRed, this bottle oxidized; I have to wonder if the source was the same. Did Binny's leave it in a trailer in the July sun? There have been issues with premature oxidation, but these have I think subsided in recent years. Oh well.

premox - disappointing. Don't understand why - storage has been consistently cool.
