Dark crimson color, silky texture, rich and yet nicely balanced. The petite verdot really added to the complexity. A wonderful wine to pair with grilled steak. A definite rebuy for $24. Drink now with an hour decant or hold for another 2-3 years.
Top Notch, well made wine! I had tasted this at the J Lohr winery in Paso along side the 07 and right off the bat knew this was good stuff. This is a bordeaux style wine and is by far the best Lohr I have ever tasted. The 05 Hilltop is really, really good but this is great. I would say its a big step above. From Napa of course, although most of the Lohr vineyards are in Paso Robles. 77.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22.5% Petit Verdot, 14.6% alcohol. Nose is on point. I get black currant and this crushed cherry action going on. Color is dark & deep purple with a red timming around the top edges, real nice almost like a piece of art. This wine is somewhat fruit forward but also has some earthy characteristics to it, which I love. Longer than expected finish but finishes great. For around 35 bones this wine is superb. You can lay down this one down in the cellar for a good 10 - 15 years, its made to last. This deserves 92 points. Go Lohr!
