  • The nose is plentiful in cherries with hints of mushrooms underneath. The palate is still nicely fruity, the wood giving good amplitude before a very pinot finish. Would have given one more point if it weren't for a trace of bitterness between the tannins and the acidity, probably from the oak.

  • Like the last bottle, it still has the sappiness that I find so characteristic of NZ Pinot Noirs, but now the fruit is darker cherry and the wine feels more extracted than it once did. It dances on the edge of being syrupy and overdone, but still maintains a decent sense of balance. Not my favorite style of Pinot, though.
