During a wine diner. Dark purple. Discrete nose of chocolate, dark fruit, some earth and spices. Quite full bodied on the palate, lots of ripe fruit and quite muscular tannins. Overall very convincing, especially nice job on the ripeness in this vintage. As far as the tannins go this needs more time, 2018 onwards.
From Coravin. Dark purple and concentrated. Rich, buttery nose of blackberry, blueberry, toast, and chocolate. Dense and full-bodied on the palate. Firm, muscular tannins. Still very young, but the nose was fantastic. I can't wait for this to soften up and smooth out on the palate.
young nose with some development. Tight dark fruit - blackcurrant and plum. Slightly inky. Integrated cedary oak. Slightly austere. Elegant style. Hints of savory tobacco. Medium-fullish body. Generous fruit. Plum, raisins and sweet liquorice. Good intensity and integrated oak. Very good grip. Just slightly tart and a bit short on the finish. Austere vintage with very good fruit. Not as oaky as Cos has appeared in the past. This is still not ready.

(Chateau Cos d'Estournel St Estèphe) This is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, and comprises 78% of the estate's production. Harvest ran from September 29th to October 13th, average yield just 27 hl/ha. Good firm fruit on the nose, fresh but moving towards dark fruit in style. Showing less oak than Pagodes, or La Goulée. Tightly formed on the palate, although it is at least expressive. A nice, ripe grip in the background, a little silky but with texture and some weight. Nicely coated, elegant but with a little creaminess. Dense finish. Lots of potential here.
