Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.6 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 12 notes)

Tasted by sopaw22 on 8/28/2010: Gifted (114 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 8/6/2010 & rated 88 points: Soft and velvety, simple light cherry and spice, with heavy cedar-box which I hope blows off in the next hour or two. (193 views)
Tasted by ssimpsonjr on 5/3/2010: Similar notes to tasting on 4/7. This is my fourth bottle tried in the last month. Perhaps a bit more alcohol than I remember from before. Paired with a pulled pork sandwich. Quite enjoyable. I have 3 left. Not good summer wine, so will save at least two for fall. (435 views)
Tasted by bg3034 on 4/23/2010: No formal tasting note for this one. My recollection of this was in line with the other notes, essentially a fairly average merlot. The fact that my wife liked it comports with this recollection, as our palates rarely completely overlap. Solid Costco basic merlot purchase, but that's about it. (514 views)
Tasted by ssimpsonjr on 4/7/2010 & rated 87 points: Color is garnet to orange at the rim. Aroma of spice with some light cherry notes. Taste confirms the spice and cherry with some blackberry notes. Very smooth and light body as the fruit fades through the mid palate. The wine comes back with a nice mildly tannic and spicy finish.

Finished up the 2nd half of the bottle the next night. The finish has nearly disappeared.

I'll consider picking up half a case for the daily drinker rotation. Drink now through 2011. (585 views)

Tasted by Grillgod on 10/3/2009 & rated 89 points: (987 views)
Tasted by davemj on 9/28/2009 & rated 85 points: Aroma is medium dark red, consistent with Merlot. Aroma is weak, subdued, and attenuated. I decanted for 2 hours, then poured. Very average Merlot, a hint of oak with a fruit mix of something, possibly a regional Pinot Noir. The potential clue is the earthiness reminiscent of a Mark West state-wide cuvee. Barely OK for a $10 wine, probably a pass since you can use simple Internet tools and get better. (1252 views)

Tasted by Acohen on 5/16/2009 & rated 88 points: well integrated and smooth with good fruit (1459 views)

Cameron Confidential: Lot 112 Napa County Merlot represents exceptional value. Sourced from the un-appellated Coombsville and Jamieson Canyon regions (which is why it has the Napa County designation), this wine has the beautiful, supple structure and classic fruit profile of great Napa Merlot (which requires a few minutes of swirling in the glass to get going). Sourced from one of the most-respected wineries in the Napa Valley (where it is sold for $24/bottle), this wine is sure to please those of you who crave merlot or those of you looking for a supple wine with harmonious mouth feel and great character.

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
